"the puffy-haired..."

so let's talk about "the puffy haired tower of power".

hmm...well, the puffy-haired part stems from my nephew and him describing my hair to my mother. he said "nana, is your hair puffy like tt's?". i thought -what a PERFECT way to describe my hair style! sooo...i began using puffy to describe myself via twitter..myspace...etc etc. then dear L.Michael Gipson (fabulous writer) took it even further when reviewing my album for bet's centric. he referred to me as "the puff-haired tower of power". PERFECTION! thus we have "the puffy-haired tower of power".

it took me a while to go natural and accept my puffy hair and it's tightly coiled cause she's a coarse one child....let me tell you (thanks grand-daddy robert!!) but when i made the transition from relaxer to natural i felt it really complimented me and the woman i was becoming.

i'm not deep about it and s***- it's just a personal choice.

in october 09' i decided to change it up a bit..not too much..just shaved the back and sides off. (mama grace jones and anita baker inspired that change) now! i have the puffy haired rooster's cute and super convenient.

i love seeing pics of Chaka Khan, Jimi Hendrix, Cleopatra Jones, Corrine Bailey Rae, Janelle Monae, Shingai Shoniwa of the Noisette's and even Chris Tucker's character on "the Fifth Element" i'm definitely inspired by other puffy haired artist from past, present and the future...

I am, yours sincerely,
"the puffy haired tower of power"
